Sony does a lot of great things. The PlayStation, their TV’s laptops and even their phones are all seen as some of the best in their respective categories. However, there is one thing that I feel Sony do incredibly well and that they do not get the credit they deserve for and that is headphones.
Back in the 80s, Sony was the name brand when it came to stereo and hi-fi equipment. From their top of the line CD players to the Walkman to their awesome speakers. Sony and music went hand in hand. Fast forward to today though and when it comes to high quality, bass blasting headphones. People will all point to Beats and Bose and the headphones you want to get.
Sony though offers some truly amazing headphones and some of these are being sold a very competitive price when put next to the other big boys like Bose and Beats. Sony headphones as you would expect come in all shapes and sizes, but one set I want to give special attention to is their Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones WH1000XM3.
These are their high-end headphones and, in all honesty, I think they are some of the best headphones on the market right now. Granted that price tag is not to be taken lightly. However, many people are willing to drop a few hundred bucks to get the best sound possible and I would put these up against anything that Beats and Bose have out at the moment.
While it is easy to look at the high-end headphones that Sony has. One area where I feel that they really do have the market nailed is their more budget priced headphones. Headphones that are under fifty bucks. These still have that same Sony quality, but they are affordable for pretty much everyone.
A great example of this is their Sony MDRXB50AP Extra Bass Earbud Headset. You can get these for like 30 bucks and the sound quality is fantastic! I personally use these with my PlayStation 4. I am not talking about as a gaming headset either.
I will use these when my wife and kids are asleep and I want the sound to be blasting, but I do not want to wake anyone. With these, I am getting amazing sound quality, even better than the speakers my Sony TV has! I really cannot praise Sony’s lower-priced range of headphones highly enough.
While in an ideal world we would all be able to afford very expensive headphones. The fact of the matter is many people do not want to spend more than 50 bucks on a set of headphones. While the higher-end Sony headphones are great and stand toe to toe with what Beats and Bose do.
It really is their more modestly priced headphones that I think make Sony standout from the rest of the pack. I have purchased a couple of sets of Sony’s lower-priced headphones and have been ecstatic with the sound quality every time!
